We Must Remodel Our Education System

Swami Vivekananda rightly said “Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in the men.” The goal of our education system is to mold the individual into a thinker so that he will be able to get a respected job according to their skill set. The culture that we provide to a student while he is studying is very important in his house as well as school. How we are balancing study pressure along with other activities. The syllabus’s vastness and competitiveness can put students in a situation where he/she could be involved in analytical thinking and even most of the students just can’t cope with the competitiveness. We must have a provision for the students who don’t want to study further the reason could be their socioeconomic background or he/she might be making a career in some other field such as acting where such formal education is not required. We must have aim of pushing the students into the career line where they grow and have a deeper proclivity to outperform others. We don’t have evaluation systems that just segregate students based on their talents. Education is the process of acquiring knowledge, skills, values, and habits.

Educational advance in India

We have brought in several reforms in the educational sector after independence. The right to education has given the right of compulsory education to the 6-14  years students. The overall literacy rate in India is 75 per cent and in some states, it’s 100 per cent. The government has been spending a lot of money on infrastructure, incentivizing enrolments this has really boosted education in India.

Tinkering with the school syllabus

During the COVID important chapters such as Federalism, citizenship, nationalism and secularism have been deleted from the class 11th political science. This has kept the youth unaware of the political issues and it will make them away from the understanding of the subject matter. We can also inculcate the value of respecting women in society through books. That will help us in reducing crime against women.

National Education Policy 2019 and 2020

The First education policy came in the year 1968 to make education accessible to the masses and aimed at strengthening national integration through a unified learning culture.
